| Lifestory of William James Mortemore. Thanks to: Isobel William James Mortemore was born in January 1919 in Thame, Oxfordshire, England, his mother was, Florence Mortemore. He married Edith Marion Goddard in January 1942 in Newbury, Berkshire, England. They had one child during their marriage. He died (just shortly before his son was born) on January 17, 1945, in Susteren Netherlands at the age of 26, and was first buried in Dieteren and was reburied 26 September 1946 on the War Cemetery in Nederweert, Limburg, Netherlands.. William James Mortemore served as private with the 1/5th Bn. Queens Royal Regiment when they did a Battalion attack on Susteren in the morning of 17 January 1945. As they were only as infantry they were overruled by the Germans with Tigertanks. Until they asked for artillery support on their positions and at the end of the day tanks could move up. It must be during this fierce fight that Pte. William James Mortemore was killed in action. Lijst van slachteroffers in Engelse krant met zijn naam.
